Most SEO advice is designed for e-commerce or content-heavy blogs. What does a service company with limited content do to appear on Google?
If you have a service company — consulting, clinic, law firm, agency — and you have searched for SEO advice, you have probably found guides designed for online stores or blogs with daily publications. None of those models apply directly to your case.
SEO for service companies has its own rules.
The sparse content problem
An online store has hundreds of product pages. A reference blog publishes several articles a week. A service company may have ten well-written pages and no publication plan.
That does not mean you cannot rank. It means you have to be more selective about where you invest your effort.
What drives ranking in services
Local authority. If your clients are in a specific geographic area, Google My Business and local signals carry more weight than content volume. A well-optimized profile with reviews can generate more visibility than months of publications.
Specific service pages. A generic “our services” page ranks for nothing. Individual pages for each service, oriented toward the real searches of your potential clients, do.
Speed and technical experience. Google measures how your website behaves for visitors. A slow or technically flawed website penalizes ranking regardless of how well-written the content is.
Content that answers real questions. You do not need to publish every day. You need to publish things that your potential clients are searching for when they have a problem you solve.
The right question
Instead of “how do I do SEO,” the most useful question is: “What does someone who has the problem I solve search for on Google, right before needing to hire someone?”
That is what you should have on your website.
